Leave room for improvement, not too perfect but almost
Leave room for improvement, not too perfect but almost. That last one percent goes a long way, don’t walk all that way and lose it all to your messy perfectionism. Too symmetrical, uncanny valley, introduce a flaw or two, humblebee.
I’m tired of being chased by lions and tigers, I’m jumping from tree to tree, branch to branch. Great, I’m stuck up here now, that beast is waiting for me. I’m writing a plan down on this leaf. Chase DOES NOT EQUAL being chased So if I’m being chased then I’m not chasing. So, if I chase them instead, then I’m not being chased anymore. Yes, perfect, let’s do it. Charge, chase the chaser, it’s not moving. I’m not being chased now, I’m caught. I forgot to consider that possibility in my calculations. Too late.
No one likes a show off, an easy life haver. No one likes a roof shooter, a record breaker. No one likes a curve setter, a cursed letter.
Found an empty room, peace at last. To be completely fair, it’s more of a closet, and I’m accompanied by a baby mosquito, real or imagined. It’s never quiet enough, it’s never loud enough. Imagine being blind, which is not the same as closing your eyes. Look with your ears, or imagine doing that. What does it look like? What do you see? Nothing, exactly.
Look at how cool they look Suppose you can do that too? Make it seem so effortless and natural I guess so, but I’m busy now, trying to overcome Being real, being not myself, becoming unrecognizable I left a part in every city, every soul I encountered that felt familiar and true You can call it love, or life, or simply the persevered
I haven’t been giving the right signals, how much of our communication is body language? It doesn’t look like I understand because I’m busy understanding.
Show up, cause confusion Be a questionable intrusion The good versus evil infusion Leave, mission accomplished
Taking a photograph with Father Time I never could capture that moving essence It eludes me, runs through my fingers, sand clock Hour glass, figurine and tangerine, eternal gray rock
Get me out of this oyster My final form is here, Casper
Almost bought a painting, I thought I had finally understood the point of art. Of course! I can totally see myself looking at it for hours. It moves when I move and it talks when I talk. And when I reach out for it, trying to grasp it and absolving myself in all its colors, it reaches out too.
Life’s not a costume party, or so I’m told. “Watch this”, I said. But by then no one knew who I was, or what I was referring to.
Can I open that door? No? Then why does it exist? No one’s looking now, all distracted with one thing or another. Every time they looked away I studied the lock and its structure, the handle, the security guards’ schedule. I go in and out as i please now, a black cat.
Can I get on that stage? No? Then why does it exist? Apparently it’s only for performers, which is very confusing. I thought that’s what we were all doing, an agreed upon puppet show. Behind the curtains, we all signed that document.
Balanced Perfectly scrambled Each and every one of these colored squares Exactly where it should be, right where I want them to be
Our eyes were never supposed to live in confinement. Shoot out your sight into the endless sky, and you’ll know what I mean. It’s claustrophobic really, and you’re being ungrateful.
My silence is your punishment Your silence is my prize I’m browsing up the internet For shoes that are my size
Bus stop, just because Shoes off, just because Smile back, just because And I’m loved, just because
Look away, my humanity subscription ran out for the day, and I’m not renewing. Soon, my eyes will turn black and my ears will shut down. Soon, my tongue muscles will tense. Don’t take it personally, and don’t let it make you cry. That’s not someone you’d want to offer tears for. Don’t wipe them out, drink them. Reabsorb them through your eyes or something. If you make a sound, it comes back around.
Food in, feelings out I hear it helps, it makes no sense For me, I’d die, no comfort lies, in french fries Or apple pies, no fruit flies, the food item not the insect
You got your whole life ahead of you, child. Which is as terrifying as it is exciting. All your firsts are waiting patiently for you. Take it slowly, it will still be there when you reach it.
This is very personal. No one is supposed to read this but me. If you’re reading this you’re either no one or you’re me. Are you me? Then stop reading. If you’re me then who am I? And if we’re both me then who’s not? Give me back myself, they don’t make anyone like that anymore.
I’d burn it all to the ground for that smile. If it would make you happy, I’ll gladly do it.
No limits to my disgust No amount of washing it off Scrubbing it clean and bloody Bath, it still lingers, the wrong hands
Who am I without it and what remains after it’s gone? I hate having nothing to want because it’s all an arm-length or a button press away. It’s awfully quiet, and it’s terribly wonderful. The price I pay for efficiency.
Everything looks good when you’re hungry. That’s how hell works. Everything looks refreshing when you’re thirsty, be careful not to down that boiling lava. No, I didn’t say sip it, how does that help? Prolong your suffering, what a genius.
It seems that I’ve been visited by the puzzle-solving elves again. My morning starts with a sigh of relief, they have not abandoned me.
Let me go, then Found a better toy, when You dangled it in front of me Does it know? Send
The sun is hanging from my neck That’s where it rests currently, on my chest If you were wondering where it went, well spent
I’ll melt a couple icebergs, I’m feeling generous. What do you suppose a judge does, when he gets mistaken for a contestant?
I showed up to life overdressed, perhaps as an apology for the comedy special that I star in.
Bad song? I’ve never heard this tune before. I remember when we played it on repeat, at home and in my car. And overhead with the stars taped on the bedroom walls. In the silence and in the dark. Masking the noise and scarring the daylight.
I can’t say I’m not coming with you, and I can’t say that I would rather walk around with holes in my head. I carry the family jewels with me, I am the main attraction. You get to show off your diamonds after you went through all that trouble, pressure’s pressure.*
