Messenger

Messenger They shoot their messengers here in this strange land I’m very frightened that someone will hear Leave them abandoned here, bleed in the sand That’s only one of my great many fears Let me keep going, I can’t understand All of this turmoil and all of the tears Why no one saved me before, I can stand End me now? That’s one too many spears

The wheels in my head go 'round and 'round 'Round and 'round, 'round and 'round The wheels in my head go 'round and 'round All through hell and down

Sleep problems, big problem We all have them, can’t solve em When you wake up, you can’t call him He will yell then, that’s a problem Small problem, big problem Fill it up up up up, to the brim Tear your clothes, Unstitch the hem Why’d you cause all that mayhem? I couldn’t sleep, do not condemn Cut the stem, no, get a STEM See? Solved the problem Go to sleep, don’t bother them

Sleep evades me, once more Scary skeletons in my drawer No one knows what they’re for Someone knocking on the door That’s a demon, that’s a boar Someone else lives on this floor Someone doing nightly chore? I do not know all of the lore Someone lurks in the corridor Something opens the old trapdoor Slumber, sweet angel from the before Please let me go now, I can’t go no more

The way out now is not through a skin puncture Find a new way now, a brand new adventure A new beginning now, the newest juncture No need to stab now, it needs conjuncture We need a routine now and we need structure We need the scripture now we need instructure

Take me, unmake me Disassemble my bowels Break me, mistake me Then steal all my vowels Break all my plates And steal all my towels Injure my limbs and Release out the owls Somebody out there I heard loudly, growls Injured small creature I swear I heard howls Were they flamingos Or were they peafowls? Either way the beast In me loudly yowls In all the hours as Peaceful white fowls

This is bigger than you, this is bigger than me. Why mess with the sacred?

Rain Break this cloud, heavy With my sword, exclaimed Move it now, do something Break it, she wailed Make it rain, please I can do it, she claimed But she’s not a prophetess One who complained Over and over and over Stop, pained Over and over and over Explained I cannot do it, no wonder Sustained I could swear, though That one day That it rained When I asked it to I swear that it rained*
